Today’s Wellness Wednesday is going to finish out our 3 part hearing loss discussion!
Last but not least, we have Mixed Hearing Loss.
Sometimes Conductive Hearing Loss occurs together with Sensorineural Hearing Loss. When this happens, it is call Mixed Hearing Loss.
This means there is damage to both the outer and inner ears. Typically, Mixed Hearing Loss happens after a long running infection, some type of head injury, or can even occur because of a family disorder.
Depending on the severity of the issue, people suffering from mixed hearing loss can be slightly inconvenienced to alarmingly deaf. While symptoms of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss can differ, both cause difficulty hearing in one or both ears.
Symptoms for Mixed Hearing loss would include a combination of Sensorineural and Conductive Hearing Loss (See the previous 2 weeks Facebook posts regarding this).
If left untreated, hearing loss can cause “side effect” symptoms, many of these are psychological and emotional.
Many people with hearing loss may not realize these symptoms are caused by hearing loss until they receive treatment.
• Irritability, or a sense of frustration.
• Lack of enjoyment in sound (music, conversation, television, etc..)
• Avoiding social situations and interactions.
• Feeling isolated or depressed.
• Mentally exhausted, or profound fatigue by the end of the day.
All the staff here at MN Ear and Sinus Center understand that Hearing Loss can be a difficult obstacle to overcome. We aim to make sure all our patients are left feeling as though they received the most compassionate care possible! If you are feeling any of these symptoms, please do not hesitate to call us (763)-296-3277
